Middletown police responded to the report of a vehicle that drove off the road near the intersection of Wilson Avenue and Collinson Drive at around 12:36 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, the department said in a news release. Officers found 60-year-old Carol Calvano unresponsive and slumped over the steering wheel. After officers performed CPR, paramedics rushed Calvano to HMH Riverview Medical Center. Heroes: Secaucus Officers Revive Unresponsive Man Two heroes in blue revived a man who'd stopped breathing. Secaucus Police Officer Michael Borrelli immediately began CPR when he and Officer Austin C. Hawxhurst arrived and found the unresponsive victim at the Harmon Cove Towers earlier this month, Police Chief Dennis Miller said. 'Miracle of Morristown:' How Woman Who Lost Leg After Being Struck By Train Saved Her Own Life Lisa Fitzgerald was two weeks shy of her birthday and commuting to New York when she lost her leg after being struck by train in Morristown on Saturday, May 4.  Fitzgerald was on the Morristown platform with the injury when responders arrived at the scene, just before 7:25 p.m., a spokesperson for NJ Transit said.  She saved her own life by pulling herself off the train tracks, onto the platform and screaming for help, according to a fundraiser set up to support Fitzgerald. Shots Fired Near Two Newark Schools: Police Gunshots were fired near Newark schools on the afternoon of Monday, May 20, authorities said. At 3:35 p.m., police responded to South 11th Street and South Orange Avenue on a report of shots fired, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. KIPP Rise Academy, a charter school for students from 5th grade to 8th grade, and West Side High School are located minutes from the shooting location.  Police did not locate any gunshot victims, Fragé said. The investigation is ongoing, Fragé said.
