NEW MILFORD, N.J. -- Five teachers have received Teacher of the Year designation in the New Milford Public School district.

The educators were recognized in a May 23 school board meeting.

They are:

Joanna Westbrook, New Milford High School Teacher of the Year

Caitlin Knappenberger, - David E. Owens Middle School Teacher of the Year

Walt Pevny, New Milford District Teacher of the Year

Jenna Robalino, Berkley Street School Teacher of the Year

Dana Harvey, B. F. Gibbs Elementary School Teacher of the Year

The candidates are nominated by district employees and are presented to a confidential panel of district and building administrators, parents, former teachers of the year, and the Superintendent.

The nominations are reviewed and recipients are voted in via secret ballot for each school building.

The district superintendent selects the Teacher of the Year from all of the nominees.

The honorees were recognized at a New Milford High School assembly in the auditorium and at a May 26 luncheon.
