Amanda Kaminsky, a Hackensack native and now a sophomore at Montclair State University, will show her first movie, “In Too Deep,” 2:30 p.m. Oct. 26 in the high school auditorium.
Tickets are $1 for students and the public.
Kaminsky took television classes in high school and appreciated the theater department. Currently she is studying production and film at Montclair.
One day, she and her best friend Samantha Pernetti, went back to their former workplace at the Oritani Field Club in Hackensack and were inspired to film a movie there.
“The place is so old,” Kaminsky said. “We were walking around, went behind doors that we’ve never been behind and found an abandoned bowling alley and upstairs found abandoned apartments where the workers used to live. It looked so creepy.
“Having a creative mind, I took advantage of that and wrote a script around the place.”
Kaminsky cast Pernetti and spent the next six days filming.
“In Too Deep” follows a girl who lands a job as a bartender at what turns out to be a haunted establishment.
Kaminsky plans to release her movie on Vimeo after the premiere.
