Brittney McNiff will be getting both an athletic scholarship and an academic scholarship to the university that her mother, Christine McNiff, said “is one of the top four schools in acrobatics and tumbling, and one of the top 100 universities, in the country.”

McNiff has been “a full time gymnast, and a full time student,” McNiff said. “She was a competitive gymnast for 11 years.”

The team Gannon is joining is a new program, about two years old, and is a cross between cheerleading stunts and tumbling. The athlete has also been a Bergenfield High School cheerleader for the last two years.

“We’re going to be driving to a lot of meets,” her mother said, adding that Brittney has traveled all over the country with gymnastics.

She starts school in September, where she will study psychology and hopes to go into law enforcement.
