BERGENFIELD, N.J. -- Zaida G. (Gatal) Abanilla , a Franklin Lakes resident and formerly of Bergenfield, died Monday, Jan. 25. She was 79.
Born in the Philippines, Abanilla was a mortgage servicing accountant for Hudson City Savings Bank in Paramus. She was a parishioner of Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Franklin Lakes and a former parishioner of the Church of the Ascension in New Milford, where she served as a Eucharistic minister.
Abanilla is survived by her husband, Getulio Abanilla; daughter Gigi Dungo and her husband Michael of Franklin Lakes; grandchildren MJ and Dylan; nieces Veronica, Rollynda, Valerie and Ricca; and extended family.
Visiting hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27 at Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, at the funeral home, followed by an 11 a.m. Mass at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 787 Franklin Lake Road, Franklin Lakes. Cremation will be private.
