Paul A. Roff, 93, Formerly Of Dumont

DUMONT, N.J. – Paul A. Roff, a resident of Kendall Park and formerly of Dumont, died Friday, July 22. He was 93.

He was born Sept. 13, 1922, in Morristown.

He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Coast Guard, and attended Columbia University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in education. He was a teacher and music director in the Dumont Public Schools system, retiring in 1984. Beginning in 1950, he served as an organist and choir director for more than 40 years at Sacred Heart R.C. Church in Haworth.

He is survived by his children, Stephen and his spouse, Michael Wheatley, Jeffrey Roff and his wife Sharon, Robert Roff and his wife Kaddy, and Sandra Jakubik and her husband Jay; grandchildren, JP, Andrew and Christopher; and great-grandchildren Sofie, Piper and Kaila.

He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth; and brothers, Frederick A. Roff and Carl F. Roff.

There is no visitation at the funeral home. A funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart R.C. Church, 102 Park St., Haworth. All are asked to meet directly at the church. Interment to follow at Holy Rood Cemetery in Morristown.
