NEW MILFORD, N.J. — New Milford resident Meera Mungekar (formerly Raman Bhagat) died Monday, May 9. She was 79.
Born in Mumbai, India, Mungekar came to the United States in 1972, originally settling in New York before moving to New Milford in 1980.
She obtained her B.S. in nursing and worked at Elizabeth Hospital in New York.
She was a proud homemaker and dedicated to her family.
Mungekar is survived by her husband of 49 years, Mohan Mungekar; children, Mangesh Mungekar and his wife Jessica Mungekar and Megha Mungekar Arnold and her husband Mark Arnold. She also is survived by grandchildren Maya Arnold and Layla and Kiran Mungekar; sister, Sarala Manjrekar and her husband Tulsidas Manjrekar and their children Ashish and Rajesh Manjrekar.
Mungekar was predeceased by her parents, Gopinath and Gangabhai Bhagat; and siblings Sumati, Malini, Shalini, Tilottama, and Pushpalata.
