Rosa Catania was given a Jan. 14 court date, Robyn Urman of Pet ResQ Inc. told Daily Voice.
Urman and Lisa Pagnozzi, who owns Somethin' To Wag About Pet Spa & Boutique, have been trying to raise money to help get Ginger healthy again.
When she was found, Ginger had been confined to a basement cage with a Shih Tzu, Pagnozzi said. Both were covered in feces and urine, she said.
"Ginger has two broken front legs and a broken back leg from being confined in a small space for such a long period of time," Pagnozzi told Daily Voice on Monday. "She was so underweight [that] all of her bones were showing."
The Shih Tzu was released from medical care to volunteers. Ginger was in critical condition at Yonkers Specialty Center, Pagnozzi said.
There is no guarantee that she will survive, she said.
Meanwhile, Pagnozzi's boutique is offering a donation to Pet ResQ for every dog groomed there in December.
"My vision with Somethin' To Wag About wasn't only to make money doing what I love but to raise money and help animals in foster care before they find their forever homes," she told Daily Voice.
There's also GoFundMe Link created by Urman, of Dumont: Ginger Abused Yorkie Fund. It had collected $4,320 as of Wednesday morning.
