DUMONT, N.J. — Borough resident Renee Jensen is sharing a piece of writing in a collection of short stories from 13 female business owners called “Redefining Success: “Redefining Success: Real Women, Real Stories, Real Inspiration.”
Due out on Oct. 1, the book is the brainchild of Closter resident Ayelet Nathaniel, whose children's book "Sparkly Me" made her the best-selling author on Amazon for 16 straight weeks.
“The idea of the book is to inspire and support women,” said Nathaniel, an Israeli immigrant and mom of three. “It’s to make them feel like they’re not alone in this world and they can go on and do whatever they want.”
Born in South Korea, Jensen was adopted by a family in Northeast Illinois and left her job as as an insurance advisor for State Farm in 2008 to open up her own childhood development center.
The mom of three also looks after a Facebook page she created in January of 2015 called “Bergen County Mommies TIME OUT” (BCMTO).
She and her fellow authors in the book from New Jersey, New York, California and Connecticut all share personal stories of “personal triumph, moments of grief, support, growth and ultimately, success,” Nathaniel said on her website.
“Owning a business is very difficult and many women feel very isolated,” she said. “At some point they decided not to pursue their dream because it’s just so hard.
“Each one of us comes from different backgrounds and experience difficulties but this book shows that it doesn’t matter where you come from.”
