BERGENFIELD, N.J. -- The Bergenfield Board of Education celebrated seventh-grader Amal Yazeji's perfect score on the Wordmasters Challenge by presenting her with a certificate of commendation Monday night.
Only 33 seventh-graders achieved a perfect score nationally. All in attendance were delighted to hear Yazeji just received her second perfect score for the school year. Her family was on hand to help celebrate this amazing accomplishment.
The WordMasters Challenge is an exercise in critical thinking that first encourages students to become familiar with a set of interesting new words (considerably harder than grade level), and then challenges them to use those words to complete analogies expressing various kinds of logical relationships. Working to solve the analogies helps students learn to think both analytically and metaphorically.
