So, when a developer claimed a nice chunk of land on the waterfront, he knew he had to come up with something that the borough couldn't refuse.
It seems, however, that the borough had something else in mind.
According to The New York Times, Edgewater Mayor Michael McPartland and the Borough Council seized the 19-acre parcel under eminent domain to build a new DPW and park, declining the developer's proposal.
More than 1,800 apartments in five high-rise buildings, two parks, a ferry terminal and more were included in the proposal, the article says.
The mayor said the proposal was too large, but the developer says the mayor refused to meet with him, according to The Times.
