A 27-year-old Bergenfield man is facing a slew of burglary-related charges for breaking into 24 businesses over the summer and once escaping police in a chase, authorities said.
Aaron Sukhdeo was arrested Monday, March 26 after being released from the Bergen County Jail where he was being held on a separate charge, Bergenfield Police Captain Mustafa Rabboh said.
He was then charged with 19 counts of burglary, 24 counts of criminal attempt to commit burglary and numerous counts of possession of burglary tools and theft, one count of obstruction of justice and resisting arrest, Rabboh said.
Distinguished by a mask, gloves and a backpack -- which ultimately linked him to several of the burglaries -- Sukhdeo broke into several local businesses overnight between July and September 2017, targeting ones with cash, police said.
On September 27, police chased Sukhdeo after he broke into Burger King on S. Washington Avenue, but he escaped arrest, police said..
Following his March 26 arrest, Sukhdeo was lodged back in the Bergen County Jail, pending a detention hearing.
