Detectives searched the car, home and storage locations of 45-year-old William Echeverri after watching him conduct a drug deal in South Hackensack with  Brian Cohen, 43, of Scotch Plains, Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said.

They found Cohen carrying an ounce of marijuana after stopping his vehicle and the rest at Echeverri’s locations, he said.

The prosecutor estimated the street value of the marijuana haul at $200,000.

A judge ordered Echeverri held in the Bergen County Jail pending a detention hearing in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack on drug and money laundering charges.

Cohen was released on a summons pending hearing in the court on a drug possession charge.

Grewal thanked police from Upper Saddle River, Paramus, Lodi and South Hackensack, along with New Jersey State Police, for their roles in the investigation and arrests.
