Prosecutor: Palisades Park Police Officer Busted With Cocaine, Steroids

PALISADES PARK, N.J. — A Palisades Park police officer was arrested and charged with possessing steroids and cocaine, Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir. S. Grewal announced Monday.

The Palisades Park Police Department told the prosecutor's office that Richard J. Giacobone of Fort Lee -- formerly a New Milford police officer -- may be under the influence of illegal drugs, authorities said.

As a result of the information received, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Confidential Investigations Unit, Narcotic Task Force and the Fort Lee Police Department initiated an investigation which led to a search warrant of Giacobone's Fort Lee residence, according to a new release.

Giacobone was arrested and charged with possession of anabolic steroids, cocaine, marijuana and large capacity magazines, authorities said.

Sarang Cho, a nurse, was also arrested in Paramus, on charges of possessing THC edibles, a served a disorderly persons offense, according to a news release.

Giagobone is scheduled to appear in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court Dec. 1 at 8:30 a.m. Cho is scheduled for a first appearance in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court on Wednesday, Nov. 29, at 8:30 a.m.
