NEW MILFORD, N.J. -- New Milford police had a pair of Narcan saves less than a week apart.

Sgt. Christopher Vinci and Officers Keith Wester and Officer Bryan Mone used two doses to rescue a 30-year-old man who'd overdosed on heroin at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 21, Police Chief Frank Ramaci said Monday.

The officer "continued to render aid until EMS and paramedics arrived on scene," Ramaci said.

The victim was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, he said.

Just after 6 p.m. this past Friday, Lt. Brian Clancy and Officer Christopher Bores called to another home found a 33-year-old man passed out on a bathroom floor and barely breahing with the heroin needle still in his arm, the chief said.

A single dose brought him around, he said.

The victim was brought to Bergen Regional Medical Center, Ramaci said.
