Missing New Milford man found OK

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A missing New Milford man has been found and is in a Brooklyn hospital, Police Chief Frank Papapietro told CLIFFVIEW PILOT Wednesday.

“A thousand scenarios went through my mind,” the chief said. “So I’m very relieved.”

Joseph Portizo was a picked up by a New York City Fire Department EMS crew that spotted him on Friday “wandering the streets of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn,” the chief said.

Portizo was brought to Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn as a “John Doe,” after driving himself from New Milford to Brooklyn and becoming disoriented, Papapietro told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Officers from the NYPD’s 72nd Precinct identified him after his car was found, along with his wallet, keys and cell phone, the chief said.

Papapietro told CLIFFVIEW PILOT that his department and the family “appreciates the assistance provided to us by the public and news media with regard to this case. T

here was also great cooperation between the NYPD and our detectives.”
