BERGENFIELD, N.J. -- Bergenfield police are staging an April 23 fundraiser at Tommy Fox's to support their Unity Tour Team.

A $50 donation includes a buffet-style dinner and open bar from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by Tommy Barnes, Steven Wesley and Scott DeCarlo.

The department is also selling 50/50 raffle tickets to support the Unity Tour for $25 a piece.

Bergenfield's best will join dozens of other depatments in making the 330-bicycle trip to the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington, D.C. the second weekend of May.

The tour aims to help raise awareness and funds for the expansion, maintenance and preservation of the memorial.

What began with 18 cyclists 16 years ago has grown to nearly 2,000 nationwide -- dozens of them from throughout Bergen County - who'll be making this spring's trip.

Participants come from other countries, as well, and leave from from six "spokes" along the East Coast.

Call William Duran at (201) 538-9774 or Robert Mader at (201) 655-5796 for tickets to the Bergenfield fundraiser.
