BERGENFIELD, N.J. -- A fast-moving employee at the Bergenfield ACME alerted police to a trio of accused credit cards thieves who authorities said had 27 bogus cards and a stun gun when they were stopped.

Officers Peter Morano and Ramon Cruz were on a construction detail on Woodbine Street when the call came in after a woman "became verbally confrontational" and stormed out of the store Friday after unsuccessfully trying to use one of the cards, Capt. Mustafa Rabboh said Monday afternoon.

The officers pulled over the older-model, four-door Toyota sedan with New York license plates reported by the employee, Rabboh said.

A consented search turned up the gun, the bogus cards, six Master Card gift cards with $50 each on them, another 17 with no denominations listed and four U.S. Postal Service money orders totaling $900, the captain said.

Borough police notified the U.S. Secret Service, which sent a special agent to participate in the investigation.

Charged with possession of the bogus cards, fraudulently using them, trafficking in personal identification and identity there are:

Shaniya Phillips, 23, of Brooklyn;

Kyrieff Carroway, 23, also of Brooklyn;

Kareem Hoyte, 24, of Linden.

Hoyte also was charged with possession of the gun and was issued a summons for driving with a suspended license, Rabboh said.

All three were being held on $125,000 bail each in the Bergen County Jail.
