DUMONT, N.J. -- Sophie Weaver (nee Affsa), of Dumont, died Saturday, Jan. 2. She was 89.
She was born in Pawtucket, R.I. to the late Rose (nee Baccarat) and George Affsa and was employed as a health aide at Care One (Dunroven), Cresskill, for more than 20 years.
She was the mother of Clifford and Donald Weaver and Laura Heywang and her husband John; grandmother of four; great-grandchildren of five; and sister of George Affsa, Gloria Mazawey and Rosemary Brady. She also is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, Joseph.
A funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s R.C. Church. Cremation is private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101-9950.
