BERGENFIELD, N.J. -- Silvia Calves, 94, of Bergenfield, passed away July 28, 2016.
She was the wife of the late Guillermo Calves.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy McLaughlin and husband Tom; son, Guillermo (Bill) Calves and wife Lilia. She also was the sister of Guillermina Veledo and husband Eulogio, Guillermo Ynda and wife Odilia and the late Berta Ynda; grandmother of Mary McLaughlin, Guillermo (Will) Calves, Kelly McLaughlin Leuck, Heberto (Herbie) Calves, Tommy McLaughlin, Patrick Calves, Teresa Calves, Jose Calves, David Calves and Michael Marini; great-grandmother of Amanda Lerch, Robbie Leuck, Tommy Leuck, Tiffany Leuck, Emma Zahren-Newman, Evan Calves and Nina Calves. She also is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Born in Havana, Cuba, the focus of her life was her faith and family. She led her husband and children to the United States in 1960 to escape Castro-communism, becoming a U.S. citizen in 1967.
She was a retired member of Teamsters Local #210 and was a forelady for Houbigant Perfumes in Ridgefield.
All will gather at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 S. Washington Ave., Bergenfield for a 0 a.m. funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Bergenfield. Interment will be in George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
