BERGENFIELD, N.J. – Rose M. (Maier) Rush of Bergenfield died Saturday, June 4. She was 88.
Born and raised in New York City, she resided in Bergenfield for 50 years. A parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Bergenfield, she was a member of the Social Concerns Committee and the Golden Age Club. She was a volunteer Braille translator for the Ridgewood chapter of the American Red Cross and a member of the Contemporary Woman’s Club and Red Hat Society, both of Bergenfield. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, cross stitch and needlepoint. Prior to retiring, she was an administrative assistant with Prudent Publishing Co. in Englewood Cliffs.
She was the wife of the late James J. Rush; mother of Rosanne Barto and her husband, Michael, Peter Rush and his wife, Christine, Christine Reveille and her husband, Peter, and James Rush and his wife, Patricia; grandmother of Allyson, Peter, Katie and her husband, Scott, Elizabeth, Joseph, James, Erin and Jonathan; sister of Joseph Maier and his wife, Patricia, Helen Dermody and her husband Norm, and the late Elizabeth Monaghan and her husband, James. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive relatives and friends Monday, June 6, from 4-8 p.m. at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn. A funeral Mass is planned for Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne Roman Catholic Church, 15-05 St. Anne St., Fair Lawn. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
