James O'Meara, 77, Former Dumont Resident

DUMONT, N.J. -- James O'Meara -- a resident of Ormond Beach, Florida, formerly of Dumont -- died on Friday, March 10. He was 77.

Born in Washington Heights, O'Meara was a foreman at Goldberg's Shoe & Slipper Factory of Hackensack. He was a member of the Dumont Elks and the Hackensack Moose.

He is survived by his children, Stacie, Thomas and his wife Denine, and Brig. Gen. James "Scott" and his wife Angela; eight grandchildren; and sister Margaret Zuretti.

O'Meara was preceded by his wife, Barbara (Milano); parents John and Mable (Berkenshire); and siblings Edward, John and Patricia.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Ave., in Dumont. A blessing will be offered at 9:30 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home, followed by interment at George Washington Memorial Park, in Paramus.
