Born in Teaneck, Zatta was employed by the Bergenfield Board of Education. He owned and operated Hammer Head Construction of Dumont and was a co-owner of Zatta Opticians of Bergenfield, with his father.
He enjoyed coaching softball, soccer, basketball and baseball in Dumont.
Zatta is survived by his wife, Denise (Candiloros); children David, Nicholas and Christine; brothers James and his wife Lisa, Robert and his wife Kathy, and Jeffrey; mother-in-law Helen Candiloros; sisters-in-law Jennifer Virack and her husband Ronald, Stella Wangler, and Connie Cipolli and her husband Richard; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Leo and Dorothy Zatta, and his father-in-law John Candiloros.
Visiting hours will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Ave., in Dumont. A mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday at St. Mary's Church, in Dumont. Interment will be in George Washington Memorial Park, in Paramus.
