BERGEN COUNTY, N.J. — A pharmacologist from the University of Liverpool found that the cost of certain types of cancer prescriptions was much higher in the United States than Europe, according to a Huffington Post article.

Tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), pills with fewer side effects than chemotherapy treatments, can cost up to 600 times the European price, according to the study.

Pharmacologist Andrew Hill discovered that European TKI prices range from over $150 to $4,000 per person, compared to American prices of $75,000 to $100,000 per person, reported the Huffington Post.

Hill's research was to be presented in Vienna this week as part of the European Cancer Congress.
