Bergenfield Swim Club Files For Bankruptcy

BERGENFIELD, N.J. — The Bergenfield Swim Club has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and members of the private club are unlikely to get their money back, northjersey.com reports.

The club had been operating at a loss since 2009, and did not open in 2014 or 2015. According to the paper, a crack formed at the bottom of the pool and the club did not have the capital to pay for the repair.

More than 600 members purchased $700 bond to join the club are not likely to be reimbursed, a lawyer for the club told northjersey.com

The pool sits on municipal property. Borough officials have not yet determined whether to fix the pool or fill it in.
