“For the most part, everything will be in the same place for now,” said an ACME employee from out of state who was not authorized to speak to the press. In a few months, she added, ACME plans to renovate the stores to put them in the desired aisle flow.

The worker, who was in town to train former Pathmark employees on the ACME system, also said most of the previous employees will be back as well.

ACME corporate officials told Daily Voice it intended to hire or make offers to substantially all of the store-level employees at all of the A&P-owned stores it acquired through bankruptcy auctions.

“ACME is very excited by the opportunity to expand its store base through the acquisition of 71 A&P locations, 46 of which currently operate as A&P, 12 as Pathmark, and 13 as Super Fresh,” ACME Communications Manager Danielle D’Elia said.

“The company is on an aggressive timeline to convert all locations to the ACME banner within the next 2 months,” she added. “Roll out of the conversion will begin to the north, and finish in the Philadelphia metro area prior to Thanksgiving.”

The Bergenfield Pathmark closed Saturday night and will reopen on Wednesday, Oct. 14 as ACME.
