PARAMUS, N.J.-- With a career in banking spanning 38 years, Paramus' Fred Rohdieck knows a thing or two about helping a business run smoothly. That's why as president of the Paramus Regional Chamber of Commerce, he's made it his goal to help local businesses thrive within North Jersey.

Home to some 26,000 residents, and roughly 2,500 businesses, by many standards Paramus is one of the largest retail centers in the United States. Rohdieck and the Paramus Regional Chamber of Commerce harness this tremendous potential by enabling members to accomplish collectively what no one could do individually. The Chamber's focus is to introduce area businesses to Chamber members and area communities through a variety of special events, activities, advertising, social media and other services.

"As one of the largest chambers in Northern New Jersey, we offer many events that can provide an opportunity for our members to develop new business, share ideas, network and obtain knowledge from other prominent business leaders," Rohdieck said.

Rohdieck moved from New York City to New Jersey in 1971, and to Paramus in 1987. His son Michael now resides in Paramus and his daughter Stephanie lives in Ohio, where she is on the staff of the Ohio State University. Michael was a Paramus Councilman, and he and his wife Kristen have two children in the Paramus schools.

"Our area businesses, much like civic and religious organizations, are part of the community," Rohdieck said. "They need support from the community and each other to maintain the services they provide. If we want them to be here in the future when we need them they need our patronage now. When we shop local we are saying YES to a strong local economy."
