TETERBORO, N.J. — The Bergen County Animal Shelter in Teterboro, which is taking care of the 26 dogs rescued from a van behind the Garfield Walmart , has closed its shelters due to health issues, officials said.

The outbreak was unrelated to the rescued dogs, shelter officials told NorthJersey.com. The dog kennels are expected to open in three or four days.

The shelter did not disclose the nature of the outbreak.

Applications for the bulldog puppies will also no longer be accepted.

"They do not belong to the shelter, therefore we have no further information to provide to the public," BCAS said.
