"I'm in survival mode," said the mom, mourning 14-year-old Alyssa Alhadeff and 16 others robbed of promising futures.
Alhadeff had the nation in tears the day after the shooting when she shared a powerful message with the president on CNN.
"President Trump, please do something. Action. We need it now. These kids need safety now."
The previous nine hours were spent waiting to hear her daughter's fate.
“Nobody was notified until about 2:30 in the morning," Alhadeff said.
"We just waited and we waited. At one point, I went into the bathroom and I screamed my head off. I screamed because I knew Alyssa was gone.”
Wednesday will be one month exactly since the Valentine's Day shooting.
Hundreds of students, teachers and administrators across the U.S. are planning to participate in the National School Walkout to call on Congress for tighter gun control laws.
A New Jersey Assembly group on Monday approved a proposed bill honoring Alyssa -- "Alyssa's Law" -- that would install panic alarms and red emergency lights in schools.
Alhadeff told Kelly she thinks there is hope for a safer future in schools across the nation.
