The Food Crawl will highlight the diverse array of eateries that the Bergenfield Improvement District has to offer. Part of the inaugural Food and Fright Festival will kick off on Halloween, while the six-day long event will focus on the “Bergenfield Food Crawl Passport,” which features $5 deals from local eateries.

The inside of the Food Crawl Passport contains a page for patrons to obtain a stamp from each restaurant after visiting for a meal. Passports are available at participating restaurants, the Bergenfield Post Office, Bergenfield Public Library and Dello Russo Laservision. With items ranging from cold cut sandwiches and pizza to tacos, barbecue chicken and more, the number of dishes for tasting are seemingly endless.

"The Food Crawl is a great new addition, as Bergenfield has a large diversity of food establishments due to its multicultural demographic," said Bergenfield Mayor, Norman Schmelz. "We wanted to showcase these businesses and give our community members a chance to experience as many eateries as possible at a reduced rate. I'm positive the Food and Fright Festival will be the start of a great yearly event."

At the conclusion of The Food Crawl, the passport can be dropped off at one of the “Turn In” locations listed on the back of the passport. The more stamps acquired, the more chances participants have to win over $1,000 in gift certificates, and to be eligible for the $500 grand prize.
